Weird Dogs

We headed down to the dyke this afternoon to take the dogs for a walk/swim.  They are always besides themselves on the short drive there, because they know where they are going.  We were just about there, and the window was rolled down a bit, and Luna did this.  Now normally I would have rolled the window up enough so there wasn't room for her to get her head out, but since we were only seconds from getting to our destination, I just let her be.
A two-headed dog!

And then when we were walking back along the dyke, off to our left was a sun dog.  Well there were two of them, I realized when I glanced back as we were driving away, but the camera batteries were dead, so this is the only photo I got.

Lucky Shots

As you've heard before, from Meredith and myself, Smudge is very hard to photograph. If she sees you pointing the camera in her direction, she usually runs.
Just now as I was trying to think of what to take a photo of in the last hour of the day, she appeared at the living room window, scratching to come in.  And it so happened that Meredith's little point and shoot was there on the window sill.

Luna of course is *thrilled* to have her back inside.  Here she is, trying to cut Smudge off at  the pass  the top of the stairs.

Bet You Can't Do This

Capturing a moment in time is sometimes just really weird.
The more I look at that tongue, .......
well, it's just kinda gross.

Foot Where?

Today's challenge was feet.  This is Luna doing her backend awareness/circus elephant on a stool  bucket trick.
Oh yeah, that is outside, in the SUNSHINE!

Since the subject is black and white, why not make the photo black and white?

Devil Dog.....

....appearing out of the darkness, blood dripping from her mouth.

This is what happens when you take a really ho-hum photo taken at the agility fun match today, with the flash, which made the background really dark, and darken it up some more.  (Meredith had been playing around with the flash. It's all her fault!)
It's been a long day in the cold....

Standoff

I think Smudge just got out of the chair on the left, and Luna was doing her usual herding/shadowing her every move, and then Smudge gave her a swat.  It never puts her off though:(
Even though it looks like Luna is falling asleep here, she is NOT!  She's just waiting for Smudge to move.
And I daren't move to try get a better angle for the photo, because if I did, and Smudge looked and saw the camera, she would be GONE!
Although you can't see Smudge's head, I like how you can see it in the glass of the gas fireplace, and Luna's too.

And because I had put the colour on Vivid Blue the other day while trying to capture the bit of blue sky we got, I had to reduce the slight blue tinge.

There is a window on the wall behing Luna facing west, and one three windows to the south behind the chair, but since it was raining yet again, the light wasn't really bright.

I played around and desaturated the colour to make it black and white, and I really liked that.  Too bad the chair was there, it would have been a much better shot without it.

A piece of trivia....Larry made that chair in shop class waaaaaaaay back in high school.  It was perfect for nursing babies in:)

All Swept Up

It's a struggle these wet dim days to find something to take a photo of.  I was puttering in the sewing room today, and I have sorted my thread spools somewhat according to colour.  I can guarantee they won't stay that way.  But since this photo is not too much different from yesterday's....

...this is my photo for today.
'We' are sweeping the utility room (hmm, I think that name dates me).  I suppose these days it would be called the laundry room or the mud room.  Whatever you want to call it, it's were we first come in from the back of the house.   Where we store our farm footwear and outerwear.  Where the dogs get gated into when they are wet or muddy.  Where the woodstove and woodbox are.  Where the washer and dryer and a sink and counter are.  Where Calli spends the majority of her indoor time.  Where we have a little fridge for  some raw dog meat.   Actually, I think this room was used as a kitchen when the house was first built.  When we moved in there was a full size fridge and stove in there also.
It is also the room where we paint things (there are three pieces of freshly painted wood in there right now).  It also gets used as a work shop, pumpkin carving center, dog grooming and nail clipping salon.  Well I could go on and on.
Maybe Utility room is a good name after all.
