Yesterday I took a picture of this teasel, but chose not to use it, thinking that I would save it for a day when I couldn't come up with anything else.
Today was raining and dull, and I went out at 3 this afternoon to try and replicate the photo. Yesterday was dry and bright, with much better light, but today I couldn't keep the camera still enough for the .8 second shutter speed. Well maybe if I had gone back inside to get the tripod, and then struggled to set up the uncooperative beast in the rain and dirt I might have been successful. That sounded like too much trouble, so I thought maybe if I used the flash it might brighten it up enough to make it work. I was quite surprised to see how it turned out. Gone was the bokah of yesterday's shot, and it looks more like I took the photo in the middle of the night, but I like it!
