I love how the outer covering of these chinese lanterns (Physalis alkakengi) rots away over the winter and just leaves the framework behind. I've often wondered if you could mist them with gold or silver paint and use them as Christmas ornaments.
Darn, not quite as focussed as I thought:( There was a bit of a breeze moving them around.

I wonder if you could spray them with a glue and then paint them..it might work..many people here dry them:)
